Michael is the City Attorney for Highland, Illinois; Wood River, Illinois; Litchfield, Illinois; and Elsah, Illinois. In addition, Michael represents Collinsville, Illinois Township, Kingsbury Park District, and Breese, Illinois on special projects. In these roles, Michael works directly with elected officials, city managers and administrators, city directors and city staff to draft and implement public policy and ordinances, facilitate business development, negotiate real estate transactions, prosecute ordinance violations, and engage directly with the public. As an active member of multiple Illinois legal communities, including but not limited to Madison, St. Clair, Clinton, Montgomery, Bond, and Jersey Counties, allows Michael to achieve superior results for his local government clients, even in contentious venues. His municipal law practice also extends to matters involving the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, contracts, litigation, real estate and construction contracts, notices of municipal letting, labor and employment law, workers’ compensation, employee benefits, labor relations, and disaster response counseling.

With more than fifteen years of experience, Michael has also built a strong litigation practice. He has successfully defended clients in some of the most challenging asbestos litigation venues in the nation, including Madison, St. Clair, McLean, and Cook Counties in Illinois, as well as the City of St. Louis, Missouri. Known for his negotiation skills, he fosters trust and collaboration with clients to achieve outcomes that make both legal and business sense. Drawing on his background in family business, Michael approaches each case with an entrepreneurial mindset and a focus on practical, cost-effective solutions.

In addition, Michael maintains a robust and successful consumer and commercial collection practice, representing primarily construction industry clients. Michael’s clients benefit from an experienced advocate who understands how to strategically apply the law to maximize recovery of bad debt.
