Law Students Apply Their Legal Skills To Real Legal Issues
The summer associate program at Lashly & Baer, P.C. provides law students with challenging legal projects and an introduction to private law practice. Our attorneys provide legal services in health care, professional malpractice, commercial litigation, employment, school law, municipal government, corporate, banking, real estate, securities, tax and estate planning areas. Summer associates may work on substantive projects in many of these practice areas.
The summer associate experience provides law students with an opportunity to apply their legal skills to real legal issues. We try to provide our summer associates with as much responsibility as possible, while also providing an educational opportunity. Summer associates may gain practical experience in document preparation and review, litigation skills, client counseling, research and writing. Each summer associate will work on numerous substantive projects during the 10-week term of June 1st to August 15th.
In addition, Lashly & Baer, P.C. encourages summer associates to observe attorneys in trial, at depositions, in mediation and negotiation sessions, during client counseling and in transactional closings. We firmly believe that having an opportunity to observe experienced attorneys is one of the most valuable benefits of our summer associate program.
We seek highly motivated individuals who have proven themselves academically. Our summer associates are generally ranked in the top quarter of their law school class and are on the staff of their school’s law journal. Many summer associates have participated in moot court, negotiation and mock trial competitions as well as student bar association activities.
In addition to academic achievements, Lashly & Baer, P.C. looks for individuals active in the community and in pro bono activities. We look for individuals who share our desire to be engaged in the challenging and honorable practice of law and who strive to make a difference in our community.
