Jeffrey A. Mollet

Biography
Jeffrey A. Mollet is an attorney whose practice focuses on bankruptcy, banking and finance, real estate, and agribusiness, with additional experience in commercial litigation, business counseling, estate and succession planning, commercial transactions, and local government representation. Today, he represents numerous financial institutions and businesses, supporting both routine and complex loan transactions, employment matters, secured transactions, and commercial litigation. He also represents clients in Chapter 11 and Chapter 12 bankruptcy proceedings and provides guidance on loan workouts, forbearance agreements, and operational and strategic business issues. With deep roots in agriculture and finance, Jeff is particularly well-suited to serve rural and agribusiness communities, including work involving cooperative formation and governance, agricultural finance, and project development such as biofuels, meat processing, and grain and product marketing ventures.
A frequent speaker and published author, Jeff supports the business and agricultural community through education, writing, and professional leadership. He has served as co-editor of the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (IICLE) handbook Illinois Law and Agribusiness and authored the chapter on Production and Marketing Contracts, in addition to contributing chapters to other IICLE handbooks including Agricultural and Agribusiness Loans and The Sale of Agricultural Property for Commercial Use. Jeff served as Chairman of the Illinois State Bar Association Agricultural Law Section Council (2005–2006) and has been the Council’s newsletter editor for more than 15 years, authoring nearly 100 articles. He has presented on venture capital and financing for the Illinois Coalition for Animal Agriculture, spoke on “Organizing New Generation Cooperatives” for the American Agricultural Law Association annual convention, and regularly provides banking, underwriting, UCC, and agribusiness programming for the Illinois Bankers Association, including serving as moderator for the IBA’s small bank roundtable in Bloomington.
