Civil Litigation Defense Attorney
Lashly & Baer, P.C. is seeking a motivated entry-level attorney to join our growing Litigation Practice Group. This is an excellent opportunity for a new lawyer who wants to become a skilled litigator and build a long-term career with a collaborative team.
What You’ll Do
- Work closely with experienced litigators to develop cases from initial investigation through trial.
- Assist in crafting litigation strategies and advising clients across a broad range of matters, including insurance defense, transportation law, premises liability, and products liability.
- Conduct written and oral discovery.
- Draft motions, briefs, and other pleadings.
- Handle court appearances and work directly with clients to drive meaningful results.
What We’re Looking For
- Licensed to practice in Missouri or Illinois (both preferred).
- Up to one year of litigation experience is required, additional experience is a plus.
- Strong academic credentials.
- Excellent writing, communication, and analytical skills.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Interest in building a litigation career and taking on responsibility early.

Senior Paralegal – Civil Litigation
Lashly & Baer, P.C. is seeking a highly experienced paralegal to join our Litigation Practice Group. This role combines advanced litigation responsibilities with core paralegal duties, providing a dynamic and challenging environment for a skilled professional.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and coordinate all aspects of cases, including discovery, document preparation, and filing.
- Conduct legal research, draft correspondence, and assist in preparing motions, pleadings, and trial materials under attorney supervision.
- Work directly with attorneys to support case strategy and client communications.
- Maintain organization and efficiency across multiple cases, ensuring deadlines and client expectations are met.
- Handle both routine and complex tasks, utilizing your experience to provide guidance and support to the litigation team.

- Extensive paralegal experience in civil litigation, with familiarity in insurance defense, transportation law, premises liability, and/or products liability preferred.

Employee Benefits/State and Local Tax Attorney
Lashly & Baer, P.C. seeks an attorney with employee benefits and state tax law experience to join its Government and Business Practice Groups. This can be a part-time position, 100% remote, depending on the candidate’s needs, or a traditional full-time position headed toward partnership track.
The successful candidate must have a strong understanding of ERISA compliance and pension, qualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans, fiduciary governance, and/or nonqualified deferred compensation plans, and state and local tax law issues impacting private and government clients. Ideal candidates would be licensed in Missouri and Illinois.
Primary duties include reviewing and drafting plan documents, analysis of employee benefits issues, and advising clients on sales, use, franchise, property and related state and local tax issues. State administrative tax experience is a plus.
The successful candidate must have excellent academic qualifications, strong communication and writing skills, problem-solving skills, and the ability to function both independently and within a team. Preferred candidates will have five or more years of related experience.
