Breanne E. Sergent

Breanne E. Sergent focuses her practice in the areas of health care law and corporate law, with an emphasis on health care fraud and abuse compliance, corporate transactions, as well as the negotiation and drafting of various vendor, employment, and professional service agreements. She advises clients on several health care compliance and regulatory issues, including: HIPAA; Medicare and Medicaid; EMTALA; the Stark Law; the Anti-Kickback Statute; OIG Self-Disclosure Protocol; telemedicine; and other federal and state fraud and abuse statutes and regulations. In addition, she drafts and negotiates purchase contracts for hospitals and a multi-hospital group purchasing organization in areas such as pharmaceuticals, major medical equipment, software, and commercial leases.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Sergent worked at a private, litigation law firm in Springfield, Illinois, with a focused practice in the areas of business and corporate law, transactional consultation and drafting, family law, DCFS administrative matters, criminal defense, and appellate brief drafting and oral argument. Ms. Sergent earned her J.D. from Southern Illinois University School of Law with honors and a Specialization in Business and Transactional law. While at SIU Law, she served as a member writer of the law school’s health law journal, Journal of Legal Medicine, and was elected Managing Editor of the Journal in her final year.
